Oppo has officially unveiled the Oppo A79, following its recent leak. The Dimensity 6020 SoC powers this smartphone, which ships with ColorOS 13.1 running on top of Android 13. With 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage onboard, users also have the option to expand storage by up to 1TB using a microSD card.
The Oppo A79 boasts a 6.72" 90Hz FullHD+ LCD display with Panda Glass protection. It offers a pixel density of 391 pixels per inch and a peak brightness of 680 nits. Oppo advertises it as a "Sunlight Display" with the promise that it's viewable in bright sunlight. Additionally, the panel has Widevine L1 certification, allowing for 1080p video streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Dimensity 6020-powered smartphone features a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera using the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, a 2MP depth sensor (Omnivision OV02B1B), and an 8MP selfie camera. Powering the device is a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W wired charging support.
Other notable features of the Oppo A79 include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G connectivity, an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone also sports dual stereo speakers and has an "Ultra Volume Mode" that can exceed 100% volume level, reaching up to 300% for speakers and 200% for earpiece calls.
The Oppo A79 is available in Mystery Black and Glowing Green color options. The Glowing Green variant features what Oppo calls a "Glowing Feather Design." It's priced at INR 19,999 ($240/€225) and can be purchased in India through Oppo's official Indian website, Flipkart, Amazon, and other retail outlets.
